Springfield Regional Opera announces an extraordinary collaboration September 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Starlite Theatre in Branson between The Texas Tenors and SRO’s Michael Spyres. For the first time ever, concert goers will hear one of the most popular vocal groups in the world along with one of the most acclaimed tenors of the operatic stage.
The Texas Tenors rose to prominence on America’s Got Talent and they now deliver their unique blend of Country, Gospel, Classical and Broadway style in their award-winning Branson show at the Starlite Theatre. Their Emmy Award Winning PBS Special airs currently and their best selling albums continue to top Billboard charts. They have performed more than 800 concerts around the world, including a 24-city tour in the United Kingdom and Shanghai, China and in collaborations with some of the most prestigious symphonies, performing arts centers and arenas in the United States.
The Texas Tenors will welcome to the stage a very special guest, the Ozarks’ own operatic tenor Michael Spyres. Originally from Mansfield, Michael’s meteoric rise to fame has seen him starring at La Scala, Covent Garden, Paris Opera, Musikverein Wien, and Carnegie Hall among other top venues. Michael garnered more nominations than any other singer in the world at the prestigious International Opera Awards of London in 2015, including for Male Vocalist of the Year. He will be starring with Renee Fleming in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Merry Widow later in the year. Michael was recently appointed Artistic Director of Springfield Regional Opera.
